Just what I needed.
1 van 1 vinden dit nuttig I know, it's tape, yuk. But, if you want to record HDTV in full bitrate without any further compression it's the way to go. Plus you can store little guys right on your shelf just like you used to do years ago and when you want that movie you pull it out of your library. The Firewire is awesome. I have the Samsung SIR-T165 OTA box and you just control the JVC via the Samsung Firewire button on the remote, regular VHS/SVHS/DVHS it doesn't care it all comes through the one cable to your Samsung and straight to the TV audio and video. Great for prerecorded tapes, pop it in and it autotriggers the Samsung to switch over and show your movie. I have another setup just like it for the other room. Of course I watch all OTA free HDTV. It's probably one of the best last VCR's to ever hit the market in history. With one or two other newer JVC exceptions that I don't own and can't comment on. Perhaps not at rugged as some of the top models from the late 1980's and early 1990's, but hey those older ones can't do what this one can.
