Dracula's history revealed
I thouroughly enjoyed this book. After reading Bram Stoker's Dracula, this book helped me understand so much more about what Dracula said about his history and his role as a Turk-killer. It can be a bit long at times, and the characters are definitely not what one is used to, but its worth it. I did not find it as spine-chilling as Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, as her characters couldn't be further from the vampire portrayed in Kostova's book, but the historical detail is wonderful and fills one with an avid curiosity to find out more about those periods of time and those places which can seem so exotic or forbidding to us.

Promosing as young adult literature
I believe I would have enjoyed this book more if I was still 14-17 years old. Its a coming of age story, explores the teenage angst of several girls with very different personalities. The mixture of such feelings with elements of fantasy, magic, and an intriguing mystery make this book better than your average book on girls trying to cope. I would definitely reccommend it to highschool girls, but feel that it is not as appealing to an older crowd.

Greay sequel
If you've read Wilbur Smith's Warlock and River God, then you must read The Seventh Scroll to find out what happened after the events told in those previous books. The action is fast-paced, the characters fulfill one's expectations for this author. If you're an Ancient Egypt freak like me, you'll love to read this book!
