Borat - Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit
Whilst I readily accept there are many reasons why this film could easily offend viewers in this day and age, for me, this is the most original and inspiring comic film to be produced for many years. Cohen's first film is unlike any other film of its genre. He crosses many barriers which probably shouldn't be crossed, but once the viewer understands that Cohen is clearly aiming a massive swipe at modern day US of A, I think a lot of viewers will relax and enjoy this hilarious film for what it is, and hence won't be offended by its anti-semetic jibes, its clear racism and its anti-femenism. It is so full-on when it comes to making numerous jokes at such sensitive areas, that surely offense cannot be taken and instead, humour can be enjoyed without fear of insulting others.
Borat is a must see. It should be taken lightly and viewed with humour in mind. If you watch this wanting to be offended, then you most certainly will. My favourite sketch has to be the job interview where Borat's previous experience is making sexy explosions with animals. Where he gets these ideas from is anyone's guess, but he clearly has a mind for creating outrageous humour.
I strongly recommend this film and I hope sincerely that Cohen produces another.
