Like a musical philanthropist, Onitor's stated aim is to employ the 'Stadtmusik' series to introduce artists from around the world to those who lie outside of their usual remit - chiefly a given city's border. A double disc set that takes in Cologne, Buenos Aires, Toronto and Stuttgart, Onitor first put these tracks out as part of a 12" EP series (although you do get two exclusives for your troubles...), but given the rabid reception they received have quite rightly pitched them into the digital world for those who want to listen on the move. Kicking off with Buenos Aires, Gustavo Lamas is a real flag-bearer for the city through his new world minimalism and buoyant predilection, whilst newcomer Nico Purman crystallizes the stripped back aesthetic with deeply atmospheric compositions that can't help but move you. As each city comes and goes you're made very aware of the differences that exist within geographical boundaries, as Toronto shows a cutting edge breed of minimalism that is diametrically opposed to Cologne's familiar and traditional take on the genre. With the likes of Distel, Gustavo Lamas, Mike Shannon, Adam Marshall, Matt Thibbideau, Jeff Miligan, Rework, Solovyev, Bjoern Stolpmann and Zbikbeat all making patriotic appearances, this is a round the world trip that won't cost you an arm and a leg.
