LOVE Narada Narada Michael Walden/ Producer Kaylah Marin is a songwriter, poet and neo soul vocalist born and raised in San Francisco, California. Kaylah first began writing and performing as a child with her Guatemalan-born father, Jazz saxophonist, Philip Marin, who instilled in Kaylah a love of music and dance rich within her Garifuna roots. He would take Kaylah to the many jazz bands that dotted San Francisco's streets, and her early performance skills were learned as a young girl accompanying her father, with guitar in hand, joining whatever house band was playing at the time. She developed what is now a huge voice, likened to Brenda Russel and Jennifer Hudson. Her current CD, "Loving Life," produced by five time Grammy Award winning producer, Narada Michael Walden and Executive Producer Laurie Andrewsen of Epiphany Productions, Jeff Watson, and Joey P, is scheduled for release this January 2009. Kaylah has worked with award winning French filmmaker, Laurent LeGall, to produce her first video Loving Life. Her inspiring video has been chosen as one of three (of the hundreds made) for inclusion in the sanctioned documentary of Obama's race for Presidencyl As a teen, Kaylah performed professionally with techno band THE RIOTS; at the Digital BE IN in San Francisco. ONE, a song recorded with European group TRIBECA, won the Future Music Magazine Demo of the Month, while Electronica song X,On the Beach, by SIR VERE, also featuring Kaylah's vocals, played all over the clubs of Ibiza, a huge hit at the Manumission. Taking a temporary break from Electronica, Kaylah founded with Jalila Bell a non-profit dance, music and theater company, THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT, dedicated to promoting positive images of women in the arts. Kaylah's next focus turned toward becoming a solo artist collaborating with other artists musically. Kaylah's uniqueness is in her ability to connect with her audiences through her music and philanthropic service. She uses her singing and songwriting (that spans the spectrum of smooth jazz, hip hop, funky R & B with today's edgy pop, to rock/soul for Rhiana) abilities to raise money for deserving causes or to conclude her motivational talks to underserved youth that conclude with her musical showcases of song and spoken word. This is what first inspired her executive Producer and friend Laurie Andrewsen to take a huge leap of faith to work tirelessly and help actualize this dream. Kaylah has also scored music for the award winning documentary TEXAS GOLD (http://www.texasgoldmovie.com/credits.html) and did the voiceover and score for JUST CHILDREN www.homelessprenatal.org/video.htm), winner of four international film festival awards: silver at New York Festivals; silvers at the Chicago International Film Festival and International Davey Awards, a medal at the Columbus International Film Festival and a CINE Golden Eagle for excellence in filmmaking, produced by Seed Communications for the Homeless Prenatal Program (www.seedcom.com); she also wrote an original song for inclusion in "Eye of The Storm" CD, fundraiser for hurricane Katrina victims.
