'Monalisa Twins play Beatles & more' is a cover compilation of world-known songs from the 60s aera - most of them from the Beatles, since they are Mona's and Lisa's greatest musical influence and role models. But there are many other impressive 60s artists they like to cover, in the case of this CD these are the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, the Easybeats, Buffalo Springfield & Janis Joplin. For their YouTube videos as well as their live performances the 19 year old twins meanwhile have treasured up a decent amount of cover songs they perform regularly. Some of them got recorded as studio versions where Mona and Lisa were able to play more than one guitar each, where Mona also plays the drums and percussion, where they can sing 3rd or 4th voices and even choirs and where their Dad usually plays the bass. For their live shows, however, with their bandmates they play in the classical 60s band setting with 2 guitars, drums and bass and 2 - 3 voices, sometimes joined by the Ukulele and the blues harp. Depending on the type of recording you'll notice differences in their arrangements, they even throw in acoustic duo recordings from time to time, like their take on Buffalo Springfield's 'For What It's Worth' (track #7). The most charming thing about these two girls are their female twin harmonies and the personal touch they add to all of their arrangements. Fans usually love Mona & Lisa for not butchering the feeling of the original song and for not being copy-cats trying to exactly imitate voices or sounds. Sometimes they even do a completely different version just to have fun and surprise their audiences with an encore like track #15 'Mercedes Benz' and still do the songs justice. Many tracks of the CD have been on the Monalisa Twins YouTube channel for years, their music videos having gathered way over 2 million views and thousands of subscribers. Since their videos are getting above-average amounts of likes, thumbs-up and comments, many of these tracks feature top rankings for relevant search terms like 'songtitle cover' and even just 'Beatles cover' with their cover of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (track #10) popping up #1 in many countries. People from around the world accidentially discovered the Monalisa Twins by looking for covers of their favorite songs and then kept following the twins' musical career. Many of them asked if they could buy the music somewhere, because they wanted to use them for their own purposes, eg. having 'In My Life' and 'God Only Knows' as their wedding songs for the 'first dance'. Music teachers use the songs for their lessons, dancers use them for their choreographies, ... So the girls finally decided to throw in this cover compilation for their fans, but also for radio stations and music industry people, before they start writing and recording new originals. The Monalisa Twins are always striving for their excellent sound recordings, even for live performances. Sometimes there are discussions arising on YouTube if their live videos really contained the original live recording, and usually those fans who attended that particular live show, would then confirm that it was indeed the actual live sound.
