Quick-time events involving buttons on the controller or its joysticks dictate the outcome of events that occur in the game. NPCs can have their minds read by Lucas, with a short joystick quick-time event governing whether he is successful. After reading a character's mind, players will glean additional insight into which dialogue tree to pursue. Choices made within the game on how to progress the story will have a significant impact on what happens in Lucas' story and how the game eventually ends. A sanity bar is prominently shown, and each action can take the playable character closer to normal or deeper into a slowly dissolving world of madness. If this bar reaches zero, this means the player has lost his grip on reality and will be forced to restart at the last checkpoint.The game's mysterious dialogue was fully voice acted, helping players get into a truly immersive experience as they go about their dark tale.
